The hickory stripe is an iconic American workwear fabric, historically favored by railroad workers and painters for its ability to obscure stains. Its name is believed to reference the fabric's hard-wearing properties, likening it to the toughness of hickory wood. Unlike 3/1 denim, hickory denim uses a 2/1 construction, resulting in a flatter texture and lighter weight, making it ideal for workwear where comfort is key. Our 10.25 oz. 2/1 Z hickory stripe denim is developed through careful study of vintage examples. The wider indigo stripe adds depth to the garment's appearance, creating a pleasing balance between the stripes. Like all indigo-dyed denim, this piece will age gracefully over time.
