It is made from a dense 9.7 oz cotton canvas that has been treated with a wax finish, giving it a wind-resistant and water-repellant property. Waxing cotton is a technique with a history as rich as that of denim, and it works very well as weatherproofing. It also has splendid aesthetical characteristics; the wax gives the fabric a richer body and adds a stiffness that makes the garment form to your body - much like starch in dry denim. And it adds both luster and depth making it stand out from other cotton garments. But the best part; it ages beautifully. It will darken and become slightly more glossy where it is subjected to abrasions, and form highs and lows where it is readily bent. Similar to denim, but the other way around. A garment with a heritage that pairs wonderfully with denim!
